1. Helen Singer has offered to make a quilt for our club to raffle off at District Confernece this year.  We are asking for members to donate Rotary neckties for the project.  President Amy has donated a couple of ties and received a few ties from other clubs as well, but she needs more! Look deep into your closets, or ask your wife to do it for you, she is probably happy to clean out some of those ties you're holding on to!!!!

2. Rotary Jeopardy will be on November 10 at the Royal Oak Club beginning at 12:15.  Norm and Sherrry have volunteered to be contestants.  President Amy and Earl will be there to route our team on!  The winning club will receive a $1000.00 check to give to Polio Plus, and enough points to award a Paul Harris if they choose.

4. We will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast during the Holiday Ice Festival on December 12th.  There will be a committee meeting on Wednesday, November 11th 7:30 PM at Cheryl Baur's house.  Please let President Amy know if you plan on attending.

Todays Program
by Amelia Roll

Our scheduled speaker had to cancel, she will visit our club in December instead.  Being that November is Foundation Month, President Amy took the opportunity to update the club on the $200 million Challenge.  To date, Rotarians around the world have raised $99 million towards the challenge - Rotary technically has until June 30, 2012 to raise the $200 million, so it seems as though things are ahead of schedule.  However, that is no reason for us to slow down in our efforts.  The total number of new cases reported so far this year are 1008 - Afghanistan 20, India 312, Nigeria 378, Pakistan 52 and non endemic countries 246.  That is much lower than the 1600 cases reported in all of 2008.  Rotarians with the help of others are making a difference - keep up the good work!

Also, our club was mentioned in the District Newletter regarding our new member and the quilt project.  You can read the newsletter by clicking on the link on our homepage at www.ferndalerotary.com.
