General Announcements:

**Board of Directors Meeting - Friday, June 11th, 6:15 ish at Cheryl and Alex's house, 734 Withington, Ferndale.  This is a joint meeting for the outgoing and incoming board members.  Dinner will be served.

**President's Night - Thursday, June 24th, 6:30 pm at Via Nove in Ferndale.  More details to follow.

1. UPCOMING EVENTS: Saturday, June 5th - Ferndale Bike Rodeo

Saturday, June 12th - Ferndale Relay for Life: Need Volunteers!

2.  Our club was presented with an opportunity to partner with Higher Ground (an organization that provides assistance for people living with AIDS/HIV) at a function on July 13th, 5 - 8 PM.  Because of our clubs "experience" in parking , Higher Ground has asked us to manage the parking lot at this event.  All donations from the parking lot will be split 50/50 between us and Higher Ground.  As this is a networking event, Higher Ground will also provide us table space to promote Rotary and we will be able to put something in the goody bag that will be distributed to all the attendees.  Please let President Amy know if you are available to help with this...we will need 6 volunteers, 4 for the lot and 2 for the booth.

Todays Program
by Amelia Roll

Our program tonight was presented by Ann Meredith.  She is a part of Brighton Casual Quiltors, along with Helen Singer.  Several members of this group participate in the Quilts of Valor program - which sends quilts to anyone who has been touched by war.

Ann brought many of the quilts waiting to be sent to display - all of them obviously have a patriotic theme.  The quilts are all made with quality materials, and made by volunteers.  Ann also shared letters that had been written to her group from soldiers and hospital staff members that had either received a quilt or played a role in delivering them, and she also had a photo album as well. You could imagine how rewarding and meaningful it is too those that put in the time and effort to make quilts for men and women they have never met before and most likely never will.
