General Announcements

General Announcements:

***In response to the Haiti earthquake, District 6380 is collecting monies in an effort to purchase as many ShelterBox's as possible.  A ShelterBox contains equipment that would allow a displaced family to set up temporary residence during this time of devastation in this VERY POOR country.  Please forward donations to Presdient Amy at 500 W. Nine Mile Rd., Ferndale 48220.  Checks may be made payable to ShelterBox USA - all donations are tax deductible.

1. Distrist Membership Summitt was last Saturday.  Three of our members, Amy, Alex and Earl attended.  It was a great event - the District arranged for a motivational speaker to give a presentation based on the book "Who Moved My Cheese?" by Spencer Johnson, M.D.  The book is very insightful on decision making processes both for your personal and professional lives.  Each club was given a copy, and it is available for club use.  I will be sure to pass along the highlights of the day as soon as I get them from the District Chair.

2. Ferndale Library's application for new books was approved by the Richmond Rotary Club.  President Amy, Earl, Sherry and Dr. Raber (library director) will be attending the Richmond meeting on Tuesday, January 26th, 12:15 PM to receive the books.  If you would like to attend the meeting, please let President Amy know.  We will be meeting at the temporary library on Tuesday at 11 AM and leave from there. The Richmond Club is very excited to have Ferndale Rotary involved in this project.

3. Ferndale Community Foundation is hosting Taste of Ferndale II on February 16th.  Tickets are $30.00 each.  More details to follow.

4. Ferndale Rotary will be featured on the south marquee at 9 & Woodward the week of Jan. 18th.  If you're in the area, drive by and check it out!

3. A one year membership for Jerome Raska, owner of Blumz, as a show of the clubs great appreciation for all that he does to promote Ferndale Rotary was approved by the board.  Jerome is a big advocate for our club and we believe that his being a member will benefit our club in many ways.  It will be reviewed each year.

Quilt Raffle: It was agreed that the club would apply for a license number for the raffle to be held at the District 6380 Conference in May.  Tickets will be sold for $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00.  All proceeds will be designated for an international project to be determined in the very near future.

5. Scam: Payouts for the winner will now be a set rate of $25.00, there will no longer be a rolling payout as in the past.

6. Programs: Club monies, up to $100, will be used to purchase Rotary Video Magazine DVD's to be used as programs when there is not a guest speaker.
